I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “wretched”.

Numbers  11:15  And if thou deal thus with me,
kill me, I pray thee, out of hand,
if I have found favour in thy sight;
and let me not see my wretchedness.

Romans  7:24  O wretched man that I am!
who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So then with the mind
I myself serve the law of God;
but with the flesh the law of sin.

Revelation  3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich,
and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing;
and knowest not that thou art wretched,
and miserable,
and poor,
and blind,
and naked:

18. I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire,
that thou mayest be rich;
and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed,
and  that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;
