“Answer not a fool according to his folly,
lest thou also be like unto him.Answer a fool according to his folly,
lest he be wise in his own conceit”
– Prov-26:4, 5
I am no preacher, but, am a sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, the following verses were given in the context of “Understanding” from the Book of Life (The Holy Bible-King James Version).
- And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom;
and to depart from evil is understanding. – Job 28:28- And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? – Mt 15:16
- And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also?
Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man,
it cannot defile him; – Mk 7:18- And to love him with all the heart,
and with all the understanding,
and with all the soul,
and with all the strength,
and to love his neighbour as himself,
is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. – Mk 12:33
- And to love him with all the heart,
- It seemed good to me also,
having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first,
to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, – Lk 1:3- And all that heard him were astonished
at his understanding and answers. – Lk 2:47
- And all that heard him were astonished
- Then opened he their understanding,
that they might understand the scriptures, – Lk 24:45- Without understanding,
covenant breakers,
without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: – Rom 1:31
- Without understanding,
- For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. – 1Cor 1:19- For if I pray in an unknown tongue,
my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. – 1Cor 14:14
- For if I pray in an unknown tongue,
- What is it then?
I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also:
I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. – 1Cor 14:15- Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding,
that by my voice I might teach others also,
than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. – 1Cor 14:19
- Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding,
- Brethren, be not children in understanding:
howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. – 1Cor 14:20- The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
that ye may know what is the hope of his calling,
and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, – Eph 1:18
- The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
- Having the understanding darkened,
being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them,
because of the blindness of their heart: – Eph 4:18- Wherefore be ye not unwise,
but understanding what the will of the Lord is. – Eph 5:17
- Wherefore be ye not unwise,
- And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Phil 4:7- For this cause we also, since the day we heard it,
do not cease to pray for you,
and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom
and spiritual understanding; – Col 1:9
- For this cause we also, since the day we heard it,
- That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love,
and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding,
to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God,
and of the Father, and of Christ; – Col 2:2- Desiring to be teachers of the law;
understanding neither what they say,
nor whereof they affirm. – 1Tim 1:7
- Desiring to be teachers of the law;
- Consider what I say;
and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. – 2Tim 2:7- And we know that the Son of God is come,
and hath given us an understanding,
that we may know him that is true,
and we are in him that is true,
even in his Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God, and eternal life. – 1Jn 5:20
- And we know that the Son of God is come,
- Here is wisdom.
Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man;
and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. – Rev 13:18
