I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “polluted”.

Exodus 20:25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone,
thou shalt not build it of hewn stone:
for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

Numbers 18:32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it,
when ye have heaved from it the best of it:
neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

Numbers 35:33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are:
for blood it defileth the land:
and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein,
but by the blood of him that shed it.

2 Kings 23:16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent,
and took the bones out of the sepulchres,
and burned them upon the altar,
