I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “exceed…” from the Old Testament.
Gen 7:19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth;
and all the high hills,
that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
Gen 13:13 But the men of Sodom were
wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
Gen 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD
came unto Abram in a vision,
saying, Fear not, Abram:
I am thy shield,
and thy exceeding great reward.
Gen 16:10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her,
I will multiply thy seed exceedingly,
that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee,
and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Gen 17:6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful,
and I will make nations of thee,
and kings shall come out of thee.

and made it to come up over Jonah,
that it might be a shadow over his head,
to deliver him from his grief.
So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.
