I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “defend…ed…est…”.

Judges 10:1 And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah,
the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar;
and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

2 Samuel 23:12 But he stood in the midst of the ground,
and defended it,
and slew the Philistines:
and the LORD wrought a great victory.

2 Kings 19:34 For I will defend this city,
to save it, for mine own sake,
and for my servant David’s sake.

2 Kings 20:6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years;
and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria;
and I will defend this city for mine own sake,
and for my servant David’s sake.

Psalms 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice:
let them ever shout for joy,
because thou defendest them:
let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Psalms 20:1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble;
the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;

Psalms 59:1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God:
defend me from them that rise up against me.

Psalms 82:3 Defend the poor and fatherless:
do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Isaiah 31:5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem;
defending also he will deliver it;
and passing over he will preserve it.

Isaiah 37:35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake,
and for my servant David’s sake.

Isaiah 38:6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria:
and I will defend this city.

Zechariah 9:15 The LORD of hosts shall defend them;
and they shall devour,
and subdue with sling stones;
and they shall drink,
and make a noise as through wine;
and they shall be filled like bowls,
and as the corners of the altar.

Zechariah 12:8 In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David;
and the house of David shall be as God,
as the angel of the LORD before them.

Acts 7:24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him,
and avenged him that was oppressed,
and smote the Egyptian:

25. For he supposed his brethren would have understood
how that God by his hand would deliver them:
but they understood not.
