Friend – from the Old Testament (KJV)

I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” -KJV, God gave me the following verses in the context of “Friend(s)”, from Genesis till Malachi in the Old Testament.

Gen 26:26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar,
and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

Gen 38:12 And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah’s wife died;
and Judah was comforted,
and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath,
he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.

Gen 38:20 And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite,
to receive his pledge from the woman’s hand:
but he found her not.

Exo 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face,
as a man speaketh unto his friend.
And he turned again into the camp:
but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man,
departed not out of the tabernacle.

Deu 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother,
or thy son,
or thy daughter,
or the wife of thy bosom,
or thy friend, which is as thine own soul,
entice thee secretly, saying,
Let us go and serve other gods,
which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

7.  Namely, of the gods of the people which  are round about you,
nigh unto thee, or far off from thee,
from the  one end of the earth even unto the  other end of the earth;
8. Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him;
neither shall thine eye pity him,
neither shalt thou spare,
neither shalt thou conceal him:
9. But thou shalt surely kill him;
thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death,
and afterwards the hand of all the people.

Jdg 14:20 But Samson’s wife was given to his companion,
whom he had used as his friend.

1Sa 30:26 And when David came to Ziklag,
he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah,
even to his friends, saying,
Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;

2Sa 3:8 Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said,
Am I a dog’s head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day
unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren,
and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David,
that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?

2Sa 13:3 But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab,
the son of Shimeah David’s brother:
and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

2Sa 15:37 So Hushai David’s friend came into the city,
and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

2Sa 16:16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite,
David’s friend, was come unto Absalom,
that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.

2Sa 16:17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend?
why wentest thou not with thy friend?

2Sa 19:6 In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends.
For thou hast declared this day,
that thou regardest neither princes nor servants:
for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived,
and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

1Ki 4:5 And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers:
and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer,
and the king’s friend:

1Ki 16:11 And it came to pass, when he began to reign,
as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha:
he left him not one that pisseth against a wall,
neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

2Ch 20:7 Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land
before thy people Israel,
and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

Est 5:10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself:
and when he came home,
he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

Est 5:14 Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him,
Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high,
and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon:
then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet.
And the thing pleased Haman;
and he caused the gallows to be made.

Est 6:13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends
every thing that had befallen him.
Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him,
If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews,
before whom thou hast begun to fall,
thou shalt not prevail against him,
but shalt surely fall before him.

Job 2:11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him,
they came every one from his own place;
Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite:
for they had made an appointment together
to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

Job 6:14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend;
but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

Job 6:27 Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless,
and ye dig a pit for your friend.

Job 16:20 My friends scorn me:
but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.

Job 17:5 He that speaketh flattery to his friends,
even the eyes of his children shall fail.

Job 19:14 My kinsfolk have failed,
and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

Job 19:19 All my inward friends abhorred me:
and they whom I loved are turned against me.

Job 19:21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me,
O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

Job 32:3 Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled,
because they had found no answer,
and yet had condemned Job.

Job 42:7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job,
the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite,
My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends:
for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job,
when he prayed for his friends:
also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Psa 35:14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother:
I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

Psa 38:11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore;
and my kinsmen stand afar off.

Psa 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,
which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Psa 88:18 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me,
and mine acquaintance into darkness.

Pro 6:1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend,
if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

Pro 6:3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself,
when thou art come into the hand of thy friend;
go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

Pro 14:20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour:
but the rich hath many friends.

Pro 16:28 A froward man soweth strife:
and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

Pro 17:9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love;
but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Pro 17:17 A friend loveth at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity.

Pro 17:18 A man void of understanding striketh hands,
and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.

Pro 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:
and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Pro 19:4 Wealth maketh many friends;
but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Pro 19:6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince:
and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

Pro 19:7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him:
how much more do his friends go far from him?
he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

Pro 22:11 He that loveth pureness of heart,
for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

Pro 22:24 Make no friendship with an angry man;
and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend;
but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Pro 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart:
so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.

Pro 27:10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not;
neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity:
for better is a neighbour
that is near than a brother far off.

Pro 27:14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice,
rising early in the morning,
it shall be counted a curse to him.

Pro 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron;
so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Son 5:1 I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse:
I have gathered my myrrh with my spice;
I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey;
I have drunk my wine with my milk:
eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.

Son 5:16 His mouth is most sweet: yea,
he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved,
and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

Isa 41:8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen,
the seed of Abraham my friend.

Jer 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold,
I will lay stumblingblocks before this people,
and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them;
the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

Jer 19:9 And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons
and the flesh of their daughters,
and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness,
wherewith their enemies,
and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.

Jer 20:4 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself,
and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies,
and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon,
and he shall carry them captive into Babylon,
and shall slay them with the sword.

Jer 20:6 And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity:
and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die,
and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends,
to whom thou hast prophesied lies.

Jer 38:22 And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah’s house
shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes,
and those women shall say, Thy friends have set thee on,
and have prevailed against thee:
thy feet are sunk in the mire, and they are turned away back.

Lam 1:2 She weepeth sore in the night,
and her tears are on her cheeks:
among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her:
all her friends have dealt treacherously with her,
they are become her enemies.

Hos 3:1 Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet,
love a woman beloved of her friend,
yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD
toward the children of Israel,
who look to other gods,
and love flagons of wine.

Mic 7:5 Trust ye not in a friend,
put ye not confidence in a guide:
keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

Zec 13:6 And one shall say unto him,
What are these wounds in thine hands?
Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded
in the house of my friends.
