I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “hold upon”.

Gen 19:16 And while he lingered,
the men laid hold upon his hand,
and upon the hand of his wife,
and upon the hand of his two daughters;
the LORD being merciful unto him:
and they brought him forth,
and set him without the city.

Exo 15:15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed;
the mighty men of Moab,
trembling shall take hold upon them;
all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

1Sa 15:27 And as Samuel turned about to go away,
he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle,
and it rent.

1Ki 9:9 And they shall answer,
Because they forsook the LORD their God,
who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt,
and have taken hold upon other gods,
and have worshipped them,
and served them:
therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.
