I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “died for ”.

2Sa 18:33 And the king was much moved,
and went up to the chamber over the gate,
and wept:
and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom,
my son, my son Absalom!
would God I had died for thee,
O Absalom, my son, my son!

1Ch 10:13 So Saul died for his transgression
which he committed against the LORD,
even against the word of the LORD,
which he kept not,
and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit,
to enquire of it;

Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength,
in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.

1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
