I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “third and fourth ”.

Exo 20:5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,
nor serve them:
for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them
that love me, and keep my commandments.

Num 14:18  The LORD is longsuffering,
and of great mercy,
forgiving iniquity and transgression,
and by no means clearing the guilty,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation.

19. Pardon, I beseech thee,
the iniquity of this people
according unto the greatness of thy mercy,
and as thou hast forgiven this people,
from Egypt even until now.
