If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,

I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “If we say”.

2Ki 7:4  If we say, We will enter into the city,
then the famine is in the city,
and we shall die there:
and if we sit still here,
we die also.
Now therefore come,
and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians:
if they save us alive,
we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

Luk 20:6  But and if we say, Of men;
all the people will stone us:
for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

1Jo 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness,
we lie,
and do not the truth:

1Jo 1:8  If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.

1Jo 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned,
we make him a liar,
and his word is not in us.
