I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “to the poor”.

Est 9:22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies,
and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy,
and from mourning into a good day:
that they should make them days of feasting and joy,
and of sending portions one to another,
and gifts to the poor.

Job 29:16 I was a father to the poor:
and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

Job 36:6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked:
but giveth right to the poor.

Psa 112:9 He hath dispersed,
he hath given to the poor;
his righteousness endureth for ever;
his horn shall be exalted with honour.

Pro 22:9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed;
for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Pro 31:20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

Isa 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor,
a strength to the needy in his distress,
a refuge from the storm,
a shadow from the heat,
when the blast of the terrible ones is
as a storm against the wall.

Dan 4:27 Wherefore, O king,
let my counsel be acceptable unto thee,
and break off thy sins by righteousness,
and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor;
if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect,
go and sell that thou hast,

and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:

because Judas had the bag,
that Jesus had said unto him,
Buy those things that we have need of against the feast;
or, that he should give something to the poor.

2Co 9:9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad;
he hath given to the poor:
his righteousness remaineth for ever.

and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

4. Are ye not then partial in yourselves,
and are become judges of evil thoughts?
