I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “withheld”.
Genesis 20:6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea,
I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart;
for I also withheld thee
from sinning against me:
therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
Genesis 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad,
neither do thou any thing unto him:
for now I know that thou fearest God,
seeing thou hast not withheld thy son,
thine only son from me.
Genesis 22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD,
for because thou hast done this thing,
and hast withheld thy son, thine only son:
Genesis 30:2 And Jacob’s anger was kindled against Rachel:
and he said, Am I in God’s stead,
who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?
Nehemiah 9:20 Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them,
and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth,
and gavest them water for their thirst.
Job 31:16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire,
or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
17. Or have eaten my morsel myself alone,
and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
18. (For from my youth he was brought up with me,
as with a father, and I have guided her
from my mother’s womb;)
19. If I have seen any perish for want of clothing,
or any poor without covering;
20. If his loins have not blessed me,
and if he were not warmed
with the fleece of my sheep;
21. If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless,
when I saw my help in the gate:
22. Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade,
and mine arm be broken from the bone.
Ecclesiastes 2:10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them,
I withheld not my heart from any joy;
for my heart rejoiced in all my labour:
and this was my portion of all my labour.
