I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “afflicted”.

should be shewed from his friend;
but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

they have also let loose the bridle before me.

I was greatly afflicted:

but now have I kept thy word.
Psalms 119:71 It is good for me
that I have been afflicted;
that I might learn thy statutes.

and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

quicken me, O LORD,
according unto thy word.

afflicted me from my youth,
may Israel now say:

afflicted me from my youth:
yet they have not prevailed against me.
Psalms 140:12 I know that the LORD will maintain
the cause of the afflicted,
and the right of the poor.

but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
