I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “vain…” from the Old Testament (KJV).

Exo 5:9 Let there more work be laid upon the men,
that they may labour therein;
and let them not regard vain words.

Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Lev 26:16 I also will do this unto you;
I will even appoint over you terror, consumption,
and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes,
and cause sorrow of heart:
and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

Lev 26:20 And your strength shall be spent in vain:
for your land shall not yield her increase,
neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.

Deu 5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain:
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
