Why? ‘Elias’….. mentioned in the New Testament (KJV)

And they asked him, What then?
Art thou Elias?
And he saith, I am not.
Art thou that prophet?
And he answered, No. – John 1:21

I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “Elias ” in the New Testament.

Matthew 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias,
which was for to come.

Matthew 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:
some, Elias;
and others, Jeremias,
or one of the prophets.

Matthew 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them
Moses and Elias talking with him.

Matthew 17:4 Then answered Peter,
and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here:
if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles;
one for thee,
and one for Moses,
and one for Elias.

Matthew 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying,
Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

Elias truly shall first come,

wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven,
and consume them, even as Elias did?

And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet?
And he answered, No.

John 1:25 And they asked him,
and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then,
if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias?
how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,

James 5:17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are,
and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain:
and it rained not on the earth
by the space of three years and six months.
