There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit;
neither hath he power in the day of death:
and there is no discharge in that war;
neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it. – Ecclesiastes 8:8

I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, the following verses were given in the context of “Deliver(ed)” from the ‘wise’ in Old Testament (KJV).
Proverbs 2:12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man,
from the man that speaketh froward things;
Proverbs 2:16 To deliver thee from the strange woman,
even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
Proverbs 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace:
a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
Proverbs 6:3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself,
when thou art come into the hand of thy friend;
go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
Proverbs 6:5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter,
and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Proverbs 10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing:
but righteousness delivereth from death.
Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath:
but righteousness delivereth from death.
Proverbs 11:6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them:
but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
Proverbs 11:8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble,
and the wicked cometh in his stead.
Proverbs 11:9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour:
but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
Proverbs 11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished:
but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Proverbs 12:6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood:
but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Proverbs 14:25 A true witness delivereth souls:
but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
Proverbs 19:19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment:
for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
Proverbs 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod,
and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Proverbs 24:11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death,
and those that are ready to be slain;
Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool:
but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
Proverbs 31:24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it;
and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Ecclesiastes 8:8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit;
neither hath he power in the day of death:
and there is no discharge in that war;
neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
Ecclesiastes 9:15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man,
and he by his wisdom delivered the city;
yet no man remembered that same poor man.
